Turtles & Tortoises of Alaska

Only 4 species of turtle, all marine turtles, have been documented within the state's borders. Terrestrial and freshwater aquatric species of turtles do not occur naturally in Alaska. That being said, there has recently been several specimens of Red-Eared Slider caught and seen in the southeast portion of the state. These are more then likely released pets, but as such we are not listing them as found in Alaska.

There are 4 species, representing 4 genus found in the State of Alaska.
